Historically, since 12° century it was the place of the town where the central market took place, and since early morning (or better at the end of the night) people, often merchands, came from everywhere in the area to sell any possible kind of products.

Les Halles is still the place where the parisian life sees its most impressing energetic level. At any hour of the day you can find people walking in a hurry to catch their train (even regional ones), doing businesses or lazily shopping and strolling.

The absolutely huge Commercial Center offers any kind of product you can imagine, a big movie center, restaurants and bars, big bookstore and music shop; a very important area where so many underground lines and regional trains (Ile de France) which explain well why the parisian busy crowd is always there.

Even during night is hard to see an empty Les Halles mainly because of the high number of night, bars pubs and even discos which are in this fascinating quarter of Paris.
